Day 192

Vistas yet Undreamed

Vistas Yet Undreamed

© 2018 Steve Cook

There are vistas as yet undreamed

Out there beyond the the mind's

Smoke-and-mirror walls,

Seen through the eye-of-a-needle lens

Of thought's jailbird window

Or the shuttered basements

Of our tall, sky-leaning towers.

We are great or small as our dreams

And if we let our dreams float like derelicts

Among the stars, cold as the void,

Or the towers we built go dark

And pass them by, blindfolded

By fake memory,

Our lives will expire like dying sparks

And drop like grains into the hourglass

Of oblivion.
