Painting to uplift and inspire
We are very pleased to include among the great artists featured on this site, the English painter Martin Budden and to display for your enjoyment a selection of his beautiful work in the gallery below.
Meet Martin Budden
I am a self taught artist born and raised in the beautiful south coast of England.
I have been painting and drawing all my life. In my teens I was greatly inspired by fantasy artists' renditions of the human form and spent hours doing pencil drawings. After about the fiftieth it got a bit boring so I did my first real oil painting when I was about 16.
In recent years I have been able to devote more time to painting and enjoy being able to put my hand to painting landscapes, abstracts and portraits, in oils or acrylics.
As to why I do any particular painting, unless it is a commission, it's usually just down to "the reason for the painting is the painting". The significance behind it does not stretch beyond maybe a seasonal aspect.
I gain a lot of inspiration from the local landscape, countryside and woodlands as well as happy and beautiful people.
I also like to try different styles and indeed have spent some time “finding my style”, a process all artists seem to go through.
The overall purpose of my art is to be uplifting to others and give them happiness and a focal point different to everyday objects that makes them more aware of the present and thus maybe give them some inspiration.
Each painting is an adventure of my feelings and viewpoint and an important point to me is putting myself in the shoes of an audience and making something that is everyday appear enhanced.
I have displayed locally continuously for several years.
